Every payment begins with an Init call which returns a single-use token. From there, the flow branches to 3-D Secure authentication, AVS verification, authorisation and finally settlement.

Lifecycle

A typical card payment follows this path:

• Init — exchange order data for a one-time token.
• 3-D Secure — enrollment check, then ACS challenge if required.
• Pre-authorisation or Purchase — funds placed on hold or captured immediately.
• Capture — settle a previously pre-authorised transaction.
• Refund / Reversal — return funds to the cardholder.
